My wife and I “met” in February 2008 on Facebook. We were both playing one of those oddball games that are considered a major time-suck… unless, of course, they lead to marriage.

She is a Canadian living in Vancouver, British Columbia and has five children, ages 8 to 14. I am an American living in Ohio; Isplit custody of my three boys, ages 12 to 16, with my ex half-time (that is, I have the boys 50% of the time… I don’t have them only during halftimes… I’m not what you’d call a sports fan).

Roughly sixteen months after running into each other on Facebook my now-wife and I were married. If this were a television show the Canadians would currently be living in Ohio with my boys and me. That’s how it works in sit-coms… marry an American and you can immediately move to the states. In real life it’s a little bit more complicated.
