Travel Bullets
- April 7th, 2010
And a lot of them.
- Last Thursday I caught the 6:40 a.m. flight to from Columbus to Seattle.
- My Wife, My Mother and My Father picked me up at the airport and we drove to Sam’s Club before heading off to the Vancouver area.
- I texted a friend who lives in Washington state and invited him to join us for Sam’s Club hot dogs… he declined, saying something about it being a three-hour drive… I politely let slide the fact that I’d travelled the first 2000 miles and the last 100-or-so wouldn’t kill him.
- One night my wife (the Canadian Gal), the older kids, and I went to see Clash of the Titans. The best part of that experience was the conversation the spouse and I had about it being a movie that really didn’t need to be made — as it’s been made a thousand times before — and then getting home to see Jon Stewart say the same thing about it on The Daily Show.
- The next night, The Canadian Gal, all the kids, and I went to see How to Train Your Dragon in 3D. It was incredibly awesome.
- My mom and dad shoed my wife and and me out of the house one day and told us we needed some time alone. We drove to Whistler/Blackcomb. The drive up was beautiful. The mountain is pretty. I would never want to ski.
- That night she and I went to see Hot Tub Time Machine. My wife was certain:
- It was rated R as there would be topless women
- The male stars would be people we knew
- The women would be people we’d never heard of… especially the topless ones
- I suggested to her that:
- There would likely be no topless women.
- It was probably rated R due to language
- There would probably be some well-known women actresses
- In the end, she nailed it. (In my defense, the language was strong too.)
- Sunday night I took the red-eye home.
- Sunday afternoon, as we were sorting out when to take me to the airport, my mother said to The Canadian Gal, “Why don’t you go to Ohio too?”
- So she did. (My mom and dad are watching the children.) She’ll be here a week or so.
[While that might seem like a lot of movie viewing, you’ve got to consider the weather was sort of dreary and it was what the kids wanted to do. With respect to Hot Tub Time Machine you have to consider that I am, mostly, a big kid.]
